Bonhoeffer

Bonhoeffer is one of my personal heroes. I had already heard about him before we started reading him in class but my curiosity peaked when I saw him on the reading list for this semester. He has personally challenged me to get deeper in my knowledge of God and my knowledge of the Bible. He also challenges me to always live out what I teach, preach, or just say in general. We all need to learn a little from Bonhoeffer. He had personal convictions and he stood by them regardless of what would happen to him. Which as we know it wound up costing him his life. That's another thing I've spent so much time thinking about. When it comes down to it am I willing to die for a cause? Would I give up my life to share the good news of Christ with others? Would I stand by my personal convictions even if I knew it would cost me my life? Things I've spent so much time pondering the last couple of weeks.

  1. That is one thing we seem to have missed in class. He was so dedicated. One might even say faithful. This dedication undoubtedly came through the disassembly of false beliefs which he formerly held. I think we could have a whole class dedicated to him. It would work especially well at this school.

  2. I would also say, that Bonhoeffer is one of my favorites as well. It definitely has challenged me in the aspect of my knowledge of Christ and His knowledge of me. As brought up in class on tuesday, Does God know you? Its just strikingly interesting to me. I have never thought about it that way before and I love how Bonhoeffer brings that to my attention.
